Emma Jean

So this year our 4th of July was a more eventful than normal...Miss Emma Jean made her arrival.  She was born at 7:22pm weighing 7lbs 13oz and 21 1/2 inches long. Labor and delivery were quick.  We stayed busy all morning with our 4th of July activities and around 5:10pm I decided that I was having REAL contractions instead of my usual Braxton Hicks contractions.  We got to the hospital about 45 minutes before she was born.  Luckily Nate is good at being pushy and this time they listened when he told them that I have babies quickly! :) They had everything all set up and ready for us when we got there so everything was a little less chaotic than when Camille arrived.

Allison pretty much named Emma. We were looking for a name with a double letter because the other girls have double letters and it narrows our choices down.  One night during our bedtime routine Allison randomly said, "We should name the baby Emma!" We both liked the name and it fit our "criteria."  I thought Alli would probably forget about it, but she proceeded over the next few months to tell anyone and everyone that we were naming the baby Emma...and we did! It was hard to picture naming her anything else! Jean is a little more sentimental.  Jean was my mom's middle name (before she started using her maiden name) and also my step-mom Bettye's middle name. After a long battle with cancer Bettye passed away on June 23.  With the whole being 39 weeks pregnant thing, we weren't able to make the trip to visit or for her memorial service. :( We love and miss NANA!!! Now we will get to be reminded of her love and laughter often!

Heading to the hospital:

Good thing we are having this baby...because I have no clothes that fit!!!

The Dr. broke my water at 7:20, and she was born at 7:22...I'm glad she made it easy (if you can say that!) on me! Then the Dr. turned to Nate and said, "if her water ever breaks at home, you might be in trouble!"
Brand new baby!

Ready to meet their new little sister!!!

Daddy's toes :)

"Helping" the pediatrician check our baby out.

 We made it home!

An Eventful 4th of July!!!

This year we had a pretty busy 4th of July!!!  It actually started on the evening of the 3rd, when Ames had their fireworks. There was a full moon AND it was my due date so I had high hopes that maybe out little one would make her appearance...but she didn't!

Then the morning of the 4th we went to a church activity of pancakes at the park...which meant that we played in the sand (who needs a beach when you have a volleyball pit!?)

Then we braved the parade...and it was HOT (like a heat index of 105-110). I found a spot in the shade and didn't move! The girls had fun at least!

Then it was time to play in the pool to keep cool.  These girls are silly!!!

Then Nate and I went a bought some clearance plants for our yard...and then we had a BABY!!!
