Golf

So last night Nate finally talked me into golfing with him. I've had golf clubs for a few years now (a birthday gift from Nate) and he got me golf shoes for mother's day...so I figured I better use them. We've been out to hit balls at the range a few times and he'll take me out while he plays and I'll hit a few shots here and there, but this was the real deal...sort of. Over the summer they have leagues; men's league, ladies league, and couples league. So every other Friday night is couples league, and it just so happened that Nate needed another team to have an even total number of teams. That means he volunteered us!
It actually wasn't too bad. The way they do couples leagues is that the men and women alternate hitting the ball. So pretty much Nate can make up for my inability to golf! Anyhow, it was really fun, and I think the golf shoes must have helped because I only completely missed the ball once and most of my shots went forward! Nate tries to tell me women play better when they are pregnant, but I'm thinking maybe like 4-5 months pregnant would be better. He was trying to coach me on my putting, and he kept telling me to stand up straighter...too bad if I stand up more I can't see the ball or swing my club!
Nate thinks he can get me to play for another two times...two weeks from now I can probably handle, and if I'm still pregnant in four then I'll probably be willing to try anything to get this baby to come! I'll try to remember my camera next time. I'm sure watching a 9 month pregnant lady, who doesn't know what she's doing, try to golf is fairly entertaining!

Congratulations Kirby!

This past weekend has been a big weekend for Nate's brother, Kriby. He finished his high school golfing career with a state title and he graduated/has his huge graduation party.

Here's Kirby smiling for the newspaper cameraman (obviously not me) with his 1st place medal around his neck on Sat. He ended up winning by 6 shots...not really even close! Good thing he won because Nate, Ben, and Wade (Kirby's three older brothers) also all won the state golf title. Jace and Gabe, the next boys in line, have some big shoes to fill. Luckily they have a few years to practice. Right now they are only 7 and 5 years old. It was pretty exciting to be there to watch, even if trying to keep Hannah quiet is sometimes torture.
Sunday was Kirby's graduation. I was sure glad it wasn't as long as my high school graduation...their class was like 1/4 (or less) the size of mine! It was really nice because the principal, who was reading the names stopped when he got to Kirby to recognize him for winning state for golf because they had already done all of their end of the year banquets, etc, so he hadn't been recognized yet. If I had known he was going to make a little speech about Kirb, I would have video taped, but oh well. Kirby loved the attention!
Kirby with mom and dad...they've got lots to be proud of!

Kirby with most of the family (Tiff's brother-in-law was getting married so she wasn't there), and only Gabe is pouting. That's pretty good odds. And as you can see, Josie's arm is in a big orange cast, as of Friday night and a go-kart incident.

And lastly Kirby with his older brothers...the Carroll High School state golf champions!
Yesterday was Kirby's graduation party (a huge event in itself.) It is kind of an interesting concept to me...when I graduated it seemed like the party was for other high school friends and mostly family. Maybe some of my parents' friends, but not too many. I think it must be a smaller town thing, and the fact that Nate's parent know like the whole town, but it sure seemed like everybody in town came to the event. It was a busy place to be!

Mother's Day!

This year for Mother's Day I got a special present, my mom came to visit. Her trip was short, but it was great to be able to see her even if it was only for a day! Thanks mom, we sure loved seeing you! Of course, it rained on Sat., when she was here, but we were still able to find a little bit of sunny weather for planting some flowers in my pots in front of our house. I am so excited about spring! Hannah really enjoyed having grandma around. She got lots of extra attention...just the way she likes it! Here is Hannah with grandma. Hannah is wearing grandma's shoes and purse. For some reason they were even better than mom's or her own! We look forward to seeing grandma again around the end of June!
Here is a skunk we saw at the nearby state park. I've never seen a live skunk before, and he looked like he was not very healthy, but I had to take a picture just because it was something different!
Today we also went to the "Our new baby" class at the hospital. This is a class for siblings, and Hannah is adorable. I have never really worried that she won't love the new baby because she is attached to her baby dolls and loves to see babies wherever we go, but I think she is going to be such a good helper! She got to practice holding a baby and changing a baby's diaper. I know there will be a big adjustment when we really bring a baby home because most of her dolls aren't quite as needy as a newborn, but she will be a great big sister! Some days I feel a little sad that I won't have so much time to spend with my Hannah, but then I see how much she LOVES playing with other kids and I realize that she thinks kids are more fun than mommy anyways! By the way, I asked Hannah the other day if mommy is having a boy or a girl and she said it was a GIRL. We will have to wait and see!

We have also been enjoying our beautiful weather...finally! 70s all week, sunny, I can handle this kind of weather! I'm sure it will turn hot and humid before I know it, but for now Hannah and I spend lots of time outside!
