Tagged!

Ok, so Shannon tagged me forever ago...so I'm finally getting around to it! This one is about Nate and I. Enjoy!

Where did you go on your first date? Officially, I'm not sure. We went sledding the day before Valentine's and I haven't gotten rid of him since. On Valentine's (since we both weren't really expecting to have a Valentine) we set up fondue for Jason and Bryan to suprise Erica and Eliza.
How long have you been together? A little over 4 years
Who eats more? Nate, although lately I've been keeping up better than usual :)
Who said I love you first? Nate did
Who is taller? Nate
Who sings better? Nate, I wish that I was a better singer. Slowly I'm improving :)
Who does the laundry? I'm really good at starting laundry, and then usually it sits all day and before we go to bed he helps put it away.
Who pays the bills? He does
Who mows the lawn? Nate...if you would take a look at the huge hill in our yard, you would know why!
Who cooks dinner? I do usually. I kinda like trying new things (and he's good about eating them!) Then he always does a good job cleaning up my mess afterward
Who drives when you are together? He does
Who is more stubborn? Tough question, but probably Nate
Whose parents do you see the most? His, definitely!
Who kissed who first? He kissed me
Who proposed? He did at the Winter Quarters Temple
Who is more sensitive? Depends, but probably m e
Who has more friends? Neither one of us have tons of friends...it is hard to keep in touch with everybody! Nate does seem to know everybody here in Carroll, though!
Who has more siblings? Nate, no competition there!
Who wears the pants in the family? We are a pretty good team. He'd tell you that he just does what I say :)

I tag Eliza, Tammy, and Dre!

By the way, we had a great Easter. I'll post about it once I get pics downloaded!

18 months...finally!!!

So yesterday was Hannah's official 18 month birthday. What a big girl! She really has changed a lot recently. She is becoming much more coordinated lately. She has been practicing to be the Easter bunny and is jumping all over the house and loves to throw and kick balls. Toys and sippy cups also seem to be great objects to throw :( but she does have surprisingly good aim. She must be a Pettitt after all! I can't wait until it is warm and she can use all of this energy outside! She also thinks that she knows how to talk. She has always been pretty vocal, but in about the last month or two she talks about EVERYTHING! Luckily she is starting to have more real words that she can use. She tries to repeat just about anything we tell her and she gets so proud of herself when her words come out the way she hopes. When her words don't sound much like words she still wants us to understand and is becoming a pro at becoming frustrated with us. Sorry Hannah!

18 months also means nursery time at church. The wonderful Primary Pres. let Hannah go to nursery on Sun (technically a day early) and she loved it. So did mom and dad! All that I can say is I hope the next one doesn't learn how to walk so early! Hopefully with the addition of play time during church Hannah will start to behave more calmly while I have her!

Happy 1.5 birthday Hannah!

San Diego

More pics from our trip. Unfortunately when I got home and downloaded them I realized that there seemed to be a blurry spot in all of our pictures from about half way through our trip and on. Sure enough there was a nice greasy fingerprint on the lens :( I can't imagine whose greasy sunscreen finger could have put its mark on my camera (Hannah!) but some of our pictures are still fairly decent. Oh well!
Sea World. Yay for Shamu!!!
Hannah waiting for the dolphin show to start.Sometimes sleep can't wait, even when you are at Sea World.

San Diego temple...beautiful!!! (even with a fingerprint over daddy)

First few days

Ok, so here's the first round of pics from our trip. We've talked about going to San Diego for a long time and now that my dad and stepmom live in CA we decided to make the trip. We spent the first few days in Ventura (north of LA) and then drove to San Diego. Bettye, my stepmom's 50th b-day was last Sat. and so we surprised her for the big day. Happy Birthday Nana!

Hannah is loving the weather.
She thought the slides were so much fun, but once she found the big one she never went back to the short one!

We don't have a lot of pics from the next few days...it was kinda rainy and so any time it wasn't raining, we just went back to the playground. My brother and stepsister also flew to CA as part of the surprise. Somehow I didn't end up with any pics of them :(

Here are Hannah's first friends in San Diego...the ducks at the part. At this point she is ordering them around (something she seems to be getting really good at). They don't seem to be listening. Tomorrow...Sea World!!!

It only took a month!

So we are still alive, just busy (and before that, boring!) So in the last month, it has still been really cold, snowy, icy, etc, but today is FINALLY warm. It is like 40, and is supposed to stay that way all weekend! I can't wait. Luckily we missed out on the last round of yucky weather because we were in CA for a week. We surprised my stepmom for her 50th b-day. She loved it! We spent some time north of LA and a few days in San Diego. We had a few rainy days, but a super sunny, perfect day to go to Sea World and another one to spend at the beach. Hannah loved being able to go outside and play. She rediscovered playgrounds and LOVES slides. I'll post a few pics sometime this weekend. We had a great trip!

When we moved into our house we talked about refinishing the wood floors that were covered with the old yucky carpet. At that time we decided that we really just wanted to move in, and so we put new carpet in instead. Nate's brainwave was that while we were gone we could have the floors done. Sounds like it should be an easy project, but it involves moving all of the furniture, clothing, etc, moving all of the carpet and padding, and then pulling the five million staples that the carpet leaves behind. So we moved to the basement a few days before we left and came home to a nice a smelly home. The floors look good, and hopefully will be good for resale, but it has been a hassle! Everything was covered in dust, walls, ceilings, baseboards, and everything smells like varnish. We are now in the process of putting our house back together, then I will be more excited to be back home! After this project is complete, we start the next project...the upstairs. This is where we are transfering our carpet from the main level to, but first everything needs to be painted, cleaned, etc. Hopefully we can make a little money on this house, it seems like we are always in the process of fixing up something!

It has started!

I knew the day would come eventually, and now it is here...
Hannah LOVES to be helpful (most of the time) and is great at taking her diaper to the trash, her clothes to the hamper, even mom and dad's clothes! So I have enjoyed her help. She even gets really excited when she eats string cheese because she gets to throw the wrapper away! Anyhow, I've been warned, and always anticipated the day when the trash can becomes more fun than it needs to be. She's been so good up to this point at not using the trash can for more than trash...but in the last couple of days I have caught her deciding on her own that a few new things belong in the trash. First was her plate and spoon after dinner. She was busy taking it to the kitchen, and ended up making a stop off at the trash can instead. Then, she thought that her pajamas belonged in the trash along with her diaper. The other day she went and got the mail and proceeded to throw some of it away...luckily just the "You're pre approved!" junk mail! All of these things seems pretty reasonable once I think about it...we scrape the plates off in the trash before the sink, the diaper goes in the trash, so maybe pjs there makes one less stop, and the mail, well, that usually goes in there, too!
We'll see what comes next. As long as we don't leave anything too important and/or valuable where she will find it we should be safe. It is amazing how smart they really are. It makes me realize how much she learns from watching Nate and I!!!

Winter Fun!

So for about the past week it has been COLD here!!! Not only has it been cold, but also windy. When they tell me that with the wind chill it will be -20 to -35, I am staying inside! Since Sunday afternoon it has been snowing slowly and this morning when we woke up it was so pretty outside! It finally wasn't so windy (happy day!) and so we decided it was time to play outsite.

Hannah had to try out one of her Christmas presents, a blow up sled! She was pretty excited. She was all ready and sitting in her sled long before I was ready myself.

We didn't stay outside for long (it is still in the single digits out there), but I think that Hannah had a smile on her face the WHOLE time!
